Is there a film which captures what this book does?
We Are Iran: The Persian Blogs (Paperback)
www.amazon.com/We-Are-Ira.../ref=sr_1_1
I learned more about modern Iran in 25 pages than from all my wasted reading for years of the New York Times.

Re: Anyone know about Iranian bloggers?
Thu, June 26, 2008 - 1:09 PMI havent heard about any movie. I have seen some clips on youtube on iran youth. (about being gay and transgendered and prostitution) actually i think slate had an article saying that qom has the highest prostitution rate, because its a religious city so they have to take in pilgrimages. and some of the pilgrimages are prostitutes.
But oh my god isnt that book just amazing!!!!!! so real!
you might like tehran blues, if you liked "we are iran"

Sat, June 28, 2008 - 6:43 PMthis is the book, right?
Tehran Blues: Youth Culture in Iran (Paperback) by Kaveh Basmenji (Author)
i was surprised there were no reviews on Amazon.
on a more ironic note, a search for Tehran Blues turned up this site:
themiddleground.blogspot.com/200...html [notice the iconography]
which led to this one
www.rferl.org/featuresart...92d0850.html
thanx for the pointer to the book.
